Water System Ph 2, Contract 2 Water Main Extension

About this Project

Whitefish Lake First Nation #128 sponsored the extension of its sustainable potable water supply system to provide direct service connections to multiple residents and the abandonment of aging cistern services. This phase of the works include the installation of a HDPE main extension using horizontal directional drilling (HDD).

Construction particulars include

• Project start up activities; contract execution, submittals (ECO/ESC Plans, TAS, schedule, shop drawings), staged procurement
• HDD installation of 250mm (6.6km) and 150mm (1.3km) HDPE
• HDD installation of 40mm (600m) metered residential services (17 in total) with accompanying cistern abandonments
• Installation of direct bury air releases (2), gate valves (25), and fire hydrants (17), one blow off
• Tie-in to the existing watermain infrastructure at two locations and commissioning activities (hydrostatic testing, disinfection and swabbing)
• Roadway and landscape restoration

Pending extra work consists of

• Two new commercial service and one residential service connections
• Tie-in for seven (7) existing residential services to the mainline
• Tie-in for three (3) cistern/home connections
